DAY 2 - This Scum Had a Different Meaning in the Scum

Hitoshi Demegawa jolted awake as his alarm went off. 3 am. The devil's hour. Superstition states that is the time where evil is most present in the world. Ironic, then, that evil was exactly what he was hoping to avoid. Hitoshi was currently working in a different time zone from the rest of the task force - he was famous for it. If Kira figured out this out...he'd be feeding the tulips in no time. And so, he woke up in the middle of the night, as any red blooded American task force member would do. Even if they were mostly all Japanese, canonically.

"Howdy, partner. It is is I, yeehaw hamburger cowboy Hitoshi Demegawa," said Hitoshi over Zoom. "Thank goodness that we have such a secure video conferencing system, there's no way Kira can hack us! USA! USA USA!"

On the other monitor, Light was currently beating his father to death with three different piano benches.

"DIE MONSTER! YOU DON'T BELONG IN THIS WORLD! MAKE ME CLEAN MY ROOM, WILL YOU? BURN IN THE CLEANSING FLAMES OF JUSTICE, YOU DEMON!"

Everyone else agreed that he had done the right thing.

"He was just preventing us from getting anything done, honestly."

"What, he can avoid making typos now and not in any other investigation?!"

"Guys, shut up who cares about Kira, I solved an elaborate puzzle! It turns out that locked cellar door in Whammy's house isn't ax-proof!"
Hitoshi turned off his laptop with a sigh. These meetings always went on at least 24 hours too long. Honestly. A bunch of nonsense that wastes everyone time, and then they just end up rolling dice at the last second anyway. He was increasingly concerned about how some members of the task force were sympathizing with Kira. Some kept posting "Thanos did nothing wrong" memes and saying they should all commit mass suicide, as a joke. Some appeared to be a coma so deep their only contribution was falling asleep on their keyboard occasionally. Hitoshi was looking forward to a break from all the bullshit. He longed for the cooling breeze of windmills on his face once more.

"Be careful, Hitoshi. Not sleeping enough is dangerous for your health! "

Hitoshi froze. Oh god. No one ever slipped into his DMs with good intentions. Had Kira found him? It couldn't be! Not him! Hitoshi's sole desire was to join this investigation! He had missed the previous two investigations, but had always wanted to join an anonymous investigation! How could Kira take his dream away from him?! That's cruel. That's just too cruel. At least this was one clue he could take to the grave - this Kira was a sadist.

"Y-you...suck..." sputtered Hitoshi as he clutched his chest in pain. The stress of staying up late, of waking up early...his heart couldn't take it. Or maybe it was the magical death curse. Regardless...he fell over backwards in his chair, dying in the most dignified of positions: a heap.

HITOSHI DEMEGAWA IS DEAD. THEY WERE.....DEATH!

death was unfortunately 100% outted by doing his usual routine where he votes and then leaves because it is far too late where he is so that does make sense. him and light were almost guaranteed to be town. i think mello is town too now.

near mightve been trying to Doo doo blunderhead light into jumping back onto mello with his very bad late vote. and touta is still at the top of my list. raye (who i still like as town), hideki (who is now in the middle but i think is ok for now), and watari (who drops a lot in my esteem) probably looked the worst at deadline in addition to near. that very much felt like a panic where someone told sultan to get back online because he was about to get lynched and it did not feel like scum scum to me

Why do you think Mello is confirmed town? The triple voter makes it much more plausible that Mello is also scum. I didn’t notice any voting patterns that seemed to protect Mello, especially considering he would be a less powerful scum member.

i did not say confirmed. light is essentially confirmed to be not aligned with scum now, and hitoshi was as well to a lesser degree. mello was another tier down and i was saying i liked him better than i did after reading through the end day again. mello is not confirmed by any stretch. he is definitely above people like near and touta though. the mood definitely changed when sultan got traction, and it didnt feel like there was the same effort to direct attention anywhere else when mello was in the lead. the only person doing so was me, and that was to push it onto the now revealed blocker.

I think that is the most likely scenario yes. I don’t think a SK would immediately go after confirmed town. Especially in a game like this where there could easily be 6 members of the yotsuba group to balance out not having a confirmed night kill.
